Coconut Wax

The Egyptians first invented wax candles over 7000 years ago using beeswax and papyrus. Since their inception, research has been ongoing to find the best candle wax. And while the search isn’t over yet, after a lot of research and testing the best in existence is coconut wax.
Most of us have at least one scented candle in our home, whether it be for a boost of fragrance, decoration or simply relaxation after a long day at work.
Paraffin wax has been the most popular wax to make candles in the last few centuries as it's got a good burn quality and most importantly for candle makers, it's very cheap. However, it's important to know where paraffin wax comes from if we're burning it in our homes every evening. It all starts with crude oil, which is basically petroleum (petrol).
A study from South Carolina State University found that burning paraffin wax can emit harmful fumes such as Toluene and Benzene these chemicals are typical inhaled and can affect people that suffer from asthma and has been linked to lung cancer.
Before paraffin wax is sold to the industry manufacturers must add industrial strength bleach. Yes, this bleach is at 100% strength compare this to a typical household bleach which is on average only 10% This bleaching process creates dioxins causing potential harm to our health. The international agency for research on cancer identified one dioxin as carcinogenic to humans – having the potential to cause cancer.

This other wax is used to harden coconut wax and allow the candle to last longer.
